I am big on snacking through out the day and keep nuts, fruit or some type of energy bar with me always, mainly to save myself from 4PM hunger pangs and unfortunate trip to the vending machine for a sugar loaded treat. I am very picky when it comes to bars and there are only two or three kinds that I really like. Since it is always challenging for me to find what I like, this weekend I decided to try and make my own. While I followed the steps mentioned in this recipe, I skipped on adding the sugar in the dates filling as it is already sweet enough for my taste and cut down the butter in crust to 1/2 cup to make the crust a little bit crumbly. They are super easy to make and will be a great breakfast option to grab and go when you walk out the door every day in the morning for your work.
